Sail River Longhouse
Sail River Longhouse
Makah Tribe
The Sail River Longhouse on the Makah Reservation in Neah Bay, WA, is the first permanent supportive housing project for homeless Native Americans on tribal lands in the Northwest. Native Americans are disproportionately represented among homeless people. By providing both housing and supportive services tailored to their needs, the Makah Tribe will help those experiencing barriers to housing stability such as chemical dependency to access services to stabilize and improve their lives.
This 21-unit multifamily project features a Commons building designed to evoke the traditional longhouse, where residents can take part in activities, meet with staff and socialize. Ally Community Development provided full project management and construction management services to the Makah Tribe.
